The port of preserves is located in the community of Madrid, at km 42 of the M-604 road. Within the National Park of the Sierra de Guadarrama. It belongs to the town of Rascafría and is at an altitude of 1,850m. It is the area that divides the regions of Segovia and Madrid.

In winter with the arrival of the snow, fans of cross-country skiing and cross-country sports come incessantly, as well as hiking enthusiasts. In summer you can see many mountaineers, cyclists and hikers walking through its valleys and hillsides.

Very close to the Port of preserves is the Valdesquí station at 5km and the Puerto de Navacerrada at 10km.

What activities can be done?

It is a mountain pass where you can do: Trekking, Cross-country skiing, Cross-country skiing, Snowshoeing, Alpine skiing, Rappelling, Climbing and sledding on your hillside specially equipped for this practice.

The Peñalara Lagoon

From the Port of Cotos the ascent to La Laguna de Peñalara begins, a lagoon of glacial origin at 2,020 meters of altitude, which receives innumerable visitors both in winter and in summer.

How to get to the Port of Cotos?

You can arrive by the M-604 road. Also by train on the C9 commuter line, you have a stop at the Cotos station, just in front of our El Cotos Shelter. By bus taking line 691, leaving at the Moncloa interchange, stop 300 meters from the Refuge.
